Our Mission

Housing Is a Fundamental Right

The ArtHaus Foundation is dedicated to advancing housing equity, environmental sustainability, educational initiatives, opportunities for local artists, and community prosperity. We believe that housing is a fundamental right and a cornerstone of thriving communities.

By supporting innovative solutions to the housing crisis through strategic partnerships, advocacy, and direct investment in transformative projects, we expand access to affordable housing for teachers, refugees, artists, and other individuals who contribute to the vibrancy of city life. Over the past three years, we’ve contributed over $600,000 to programs that work every day to create a positive impact in the local community.

We invite you to join us in supporting the ArtHaus Foundation by making a donation today. Your contribution will directly support initiatives that help shape inclusive, thriving communities and improve lives for those who need it most.

Housing Solutions

Helping Teachers Live Where They Teach

Through our partnership with Rooted, we have helped grow the organization to a housing marketplace that has enabled nearly 200 individual Oakland educators to afford to live where they serve. ArtHaus Partners has served as the Rooted Housing Marketplace’s largest participating housing provider and has housed over 110 educators, impacting up to 2,000 unique students each year.

Art and Community Prosperity

Art Isn’t a Luxury. It’s a Necessity.

We believe art isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. That’s why we turn our buildings into canvases for artists, creating the largest privately funded arts program in Oakland. Our support for art spans from our portfolio to the community.

In 2025, we helped sponsor a community mural event outside our project at ArtHaus Chestnut in partnership with the Yu Ming Charter School across the street. The purpose of creating the community mural was not only to bring vibrancy to the streetscape, but to encourage drivers to slow down and create a safer environment for both students and residents of West Oakland.

Educational Opportunities

Learning Beyond Four Walls

At ArtHaus Works we currently furnish Forest & Tree with a fully subsidized, dedicated office space to support their operations. Forest & Tree is a non-profit organization that provides young people in grades TK–12 and their families with outdoor learning experiences away from the four walls of a traditional classroom in order to develop a stronger sense of self, community and connection with the natural world.
