ArtHaus: helping to solve
the housing crisis

For the Bay Area to thrive, it's important that middle-income professionals find housing that doesn't force a compromise in their quality of life.

Housing policy has not kept up with changing America

The housing crisis in America is a major threat to the lives of our urban professionals. As of the end of 2021, reports indicate that America currently has a shortage of 5.24 million homes, and construction is at its slowest pace since 1995. To help remedy this, we will need sweeping policy changes to help encourage housing production.

Our resident:
the missing middle

We understand the missing middle as the largest overlooked demographic group impacted by the housing crisis: single, moderate-income professionals. These individuals — who have aged out of the roommate market but do not have the means to purchase a home or rent a luxury apartment — are hard-pressed to find housing that meets their needs. That’s where we come in.

Our solution: ArtHaus

Our values are what make ArtHaus purpose-built for better.
Tailor made for the urban workforce, it’s our solution to California’s housing crisis.

our residents

ArtHaus Mandela

"Living at ArtHaus Mandela was super convenient—my studio came fully furnished and ready to go. I loved being close to BART and local shops. The shared kitchen was a nice social touch."
— Mr. Palmer
UC Grad student
resident since 2023

ArtHaus Jack London

"I moved into ArtHaus Jack London for the design—and stayed for the amenities. The quartz counters, natural light, and coworking areas make it feel more like a boutique hotel than an apartment."
— Marco Esquandolos
remote worker
resident since 2024

ArtHaus Brush

"ArtHaus Brush was perfect for my 6-month contract. Everything was furnished, Wi-Fi was included, and I could walk to everything. The space is compact, but it was a great value—and it actually felt cozy and secure. I’d definitely recommend it for anyone new to the city."
— Suzy Greenburg
traveling nurse
resident since early 2024

Density
Drives Affordability

One of the ways we build value for investors and residents through intelligent use of the California Density Bonus.

HOW WE BUILD PURPOSEFULLY

California Density Bonus

The Density Bonus Law allows us to build up to 50% more units than the zoning regulations permit. This increased density allows us to further reduce our residents' rent.

Efficiency-Unit Legislation

Our use of the State ADU legislation has enabled us to increase unit-count by 100% across 9 ADU projects.

Solar Tax Credit

Our ~4MWg solar installations powering 1500 units are designed to tap Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) Incentives, offsetting construction cost.
